Timeline:Post-Comedian's death

October 12, 1985

Detectives Steve Fine and Joe Bourquin investigate the murder of Edward Blake, who was thrown out of his apartment window the night before. They notice the broken chain-lock and talk about Blake being able to defend himself against the assailant.
Later that night, Rorschach goes to Blake's block and finds his smiley badge on the ground. He examines it and takes out his grappling gun and uses it as a climbing aid. Once he reaches the apartment's broken window and checking out the apartment, he finds The Comedian's costume in the closet, and realizes that Blake was The Comedian.
Dan Dreiberg is having a beer session with Hollis Mason. They notice the time and Dan leaves to go home.

Dan arrives home and finds Rorschach in his kitchen. Rorschach shows him the smiley badge and tells him the Comedian is dead and that there may be a killer going after the former masked vigilantes. Rorschach leaves after warning Dan about the mask killer.
Rorschach wakes up after a long sleep and goes to Happy Harry's bar for further investigation on Blake's murder. After breaking a man's fingers, shocking the customers, he leaves the bar.
He goes to Adrian Veidt's building to warn him but he dismisses it as a political killing.
Rorschach infiltrates the Rockfeller Military Center to warn Dr. Manhattan and Laurie Juspeczyk. Laurie gets upset after Rorschach mentions Blake's attempted rape upon her mother as a moral lapse. Dr. Manhattan then teleports Rorschach out of the facility.
Laurie calls Dan Dreiberg out for dinner to catch up on old times. They go to Rafael's and talk about the days of being vigilantes.
